Better Vision At Any Age

at 11:55AM, 1:55PM, and 3:55PM

As we get older, many of us experience changes in our vision. Sometimes we have trouble reading, or have difficulty seeing at night, and glasses don't always help. Suzanne and her guest Dr. William Tasman, Opthalmologist-in-Chief at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, discuss common eye problems and some of the things that can help.

Cataracts are the clouding the eye lens, which can often be helped through surgery. Glaucoma, which occurs when the pressure in the eye increases and pushes on the optic nerve, can lead to blindness. People should be checked for glaucoma by age 45 if they have no other problems. Low vision, when you can't see with the help of glasses or surgery, includes problems like macular degeneration, in which the nerve cells in the eyes deteriorate and allow blood vessels to bleed through. And finally, diabetes, which many people have, can cause increased risk for cataracts and other eye problems.

Eye health is extremely important, so take the time to make sure your vision will stay clear for as long as possible.
